Fabulous Friday! Eco Nuts

What are Eco Nuts and how in the world can a nut be used a laundry soap?  That was my first thought when I heard of Eco Nuts! I had heard of soap nuts and other various names of nuts claiming to be laundry detergent. So like any other subject that peaks my curiosity, the research began. I was rather surprised!

These nuts (really they are berries), come from a family of trees and shrubs in the Lychee family. This family consists of 5 to 12 species which fall under evergreens. These fascinating and effective berries/nuts have been used for washing for thousands of years.

Used not only for washing needs, these nuts have been used for treating various skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and even for removing freckles! I think I might have to test that one out! They have also been used for ridding hair and the scalp from lice!!

Mona, over at Eco Nuts sent me out a sample of her Eco nuts to test out!  My sample arrived in nicely packaged in a cute little box. Inside I found 5 berries, a linen drawstring bag and instructions. I promptly place the nuts into the bag and tossed the bag in with a load of diapers! These couldn't have arrived at a better time! My pail was full and ready to go!

I was pleasantly surprised how well they worked! Not only did my load of diapers come out clean, but they came out brighter! No funky smells or strange coating feeling left to the diapers at all. I have some staining on a few of the diapers, that have become lighter!
