Sinful Saturday!

When I was in the hospital for the birth of my little boy, and again when he was under Bili lights, I had a blueberry scone every morning along with a yogurt, granola, fresh fruit and juice. I loved my scones! I looked forward to having them, and that was the one thing I miss about being in the hospital!  So, today's Sinful recipe is blueberry scones! Mmmmmmm! I'm going to make some, horde some, freeze some, and not share! Alright, yes, I will share. But only because I don't want little puppy dog eyes being made while I savor each bite am a nice mom and because I know the kids will love them too!

Blueberry Scones

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup butter, chilled
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 3/4 cup half-and-half cream
  • 1 egg
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. Cut butter into mixture of flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add blueberries and toss to mix.
  3. In separate bowl beat together cream and egg, and slowly pour into dry ingredients, stirring with rubber scraper until dough forms. Knead just until it comes together, 3 or 4 times. Don't overhandle.
  4. Divide dough in half. On lightly floured board, shape each half into a 6-inch round. Cut into 6 wedges.
  5. Bake on ungreased sheet about 20 minutes at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Serve warm!!

Ok, this might seem like a silly question, but what is a scone? Is it more like a muffin or a cookie, or inbetween? A biscuit? I have never made one, or had one, and I am curious!

I would freeze them and find a way to eat them without sharing...when they are asleep or I'd hide in the closet or something.
