General Mills - Helping to keep kids Healthy

One of the most important goals as a mother, is keeping my kids strong and healthy.

Knowing that, it makes me feel a little better when my kids typically eat cold cereal for breakfast. Let's face it, getting 5 kids up and dressed, clothed AND fed, so that you can walk out the door by 7:15 in the morning is, HECTIC a walk in the park! And as much as I would LOVE to make my kids a nice warm plate of pancakes with a side of fresh fruit and a glass of milk, it is just not do-able!

General Mills is making mom's like me, feel better about the cereal we feed our weeds children. Here are some little known facts about whole grain cereal!

A 1998 study showed that – compared to children who skip breakfast – those who ate breakfast:
  • performed better at school
  • recorded higher test scores
  • reduced absenteeism and tardiness

As a mom I tend to worry about the amount of sugar my kids are eating. I do allow them to have small amounts here and there. Cereal is one of those "I don't think about" areas when sugar is concerned. I tend to buy what happens to be the best buy per size of box, rarely looking at the Nutrition Facts listed on the side of the box.

I personally would prefer to see cereals that are even lower in sugar, especially children’s cereals. General Mills is listening to consumers like me!

"We are reducing sugar in cereals advertised to children, while maintaining great taste. Reductions have already been made – but we aren’t stopping.
We have made a public commitment to further reduce to single-digit levels in grams of sugar per serving any cereal advertised to children under 12.
To ensure our cereals continue to deliver great taste people love, adjustments are being made in a series of downward steps – but we are committed to the goal.
General Mills strives to be the health leader in every category in which we compete – and we are committed to leading the cereal category."

Kix has always been one of my favorite cereals! My own kids love Kix and have recently come aware that Kix now comes in a newer variety! Honey Kix! Sweeter than the regular Kix, this cereal will cure any sweet tooth, and packs 6 grams (only 3 gams with regular Kix) of sugar per serving! How can you not go wrong!

Right now if you visit here you will find a $1 off coupon for one of four General Mills cereals.
