Certain Dri Review and Giveaway!

You've been to the gym, you seen it just walking around, and not just in the summer time either. Drenched shirts, embarrassing wet marks under arms. According to an independent survey, it's a condition that affects more than 40 million adults and teens.

Unfortunately, it's unheard of in the south, to NOT walk outside in the summer and in under 5 minutes be completely soaked. I hate feeling sweaty. And has often lead me on the hunt for a good anti-perspirant, one that will leave me with no worries. Just as I find one that is perfect for me, babies come along and change body chemistry. Uggggggh!

11 years and I have finally found it! Certain Dri, is awesome! Making sure you stay dry all day, this amazing solid stick, is proven to be the strongest formulation available over the counter! Providing up to 72 hours of protection, I'm thinking ingenious! Where were you before?!

Having a spouse in the Army, I see the results of how hot it is under all the protective gear that my hubby wears when in the field. Certain Dri is the perfect addition for him! Now, if only they made a body spray our men and women in uniform would be set!

A few things that I personally love about Certain Dri:
  • Goes on light and doesn't flake.
  • Applies clear...meaning, no mess on my black capped t-shirts or dresses!!!
  • Light powder scent. Being sensitive to scents, this is perfect!
  • Won't wash off! I can now jump in the shower and run out the door without having to worry about forgetting anti-perspirant! So many times I'm running out the door, knowing I'm forgetting to do something! Now, this won't be one of them!!!
Available in a solid stick, as well as a roll on. Ranging from $5.50-$5.99, Certain Dri is available nationwide.

Canker Cover Review and Giveaway!

Canker Sores, a painful condition that affects 56 million people every year! A condition that leaves me wanting something more that just a temporary "band aide". When I have one (or more), I want something that is going to instantly help ease the pain as well as heal it quickly!

Canker Cover not only eases the pain and heals those pesky sore quickly, but it does it naturally! I couldn't wait to try this out, and I still can't wait to use it on my next canker sore. Unfortunately, a couple days before this arrived, my last canker sore FINALLY went away! BUT, my oldest woke up with one! So she got to try it out.

Canker Cover is the only over-the-counter canker sore treatment that has clinically proven to speed the healing process. We were fascinated while watching this simple round patch that resembles a pill adhere to her tongue! Because my daughter's sore was on the tip of her tongue, we split the patch in half!

We applied right before she went to bed because she was worried that it would come off while eating. When she woke up, she was squealing! For two reasons! Squealing in panic because she thought she swallowed the patch in her sleep, and because her canker sore was completely gone!

We checked the box to ease her mind. Turns out, the patch dissolves completely within 8-12 hours after applying!

Want to try it out for yourself?? Canker Cover can be purchased at pharmacies, drug stores, super markets and health food stores nation wide. You can also purchase on line HERE!

WIN IT!!!!     Thanks to the generosity of Quantum Health and Canker Cover, one of my very lucky readers will receive their very own box of Canker Cover! Contest is only valid for those with U.S. addresses and those entering MUST do the following:
  • You MUST follow me publicly and MUST comment leaving me your email and visit the Canker Cover website, plug in your zip code and tell me the name of a local store that carries this amazing product!!

My Purple Toes Review!

We love books in my family. We currently have boxes and boxes of them waiting to be unpacked in our new home in 2 weeks! Books for all ages and stages. From, fabric and board books to hard and soft cover books, "Where's Waldo" style to even role playing books. We LOVE books! So when I was approached about a book review, a children's book review, I jumped at the opportunity!

When his daughter was a teen, Blair Hahn accepted an invitation for a daddy daughter date to have pedicures done. As their date came to a close, Blair noticed that his daughter's toes were being painted bright pink. He teased her, "What about me?". Before he knew it his toes were being painted purple. They proudly marched out of the salon, showing off their newly polished toes.

This experience inspired Blair's first book, "My Purple Toes". Geared to children aged 1-5, this story tell of father who goes through life with purple painted toenails. Everyone reacts differently to dad's toes, even the dog!

My kids enjoy this story very much. Not only does it further encourage their love of reading, it engages play within the book. On every page, hidden somewhere, is a little green frog, who, like dad, has purple toes!

Learning the life lessons of accepting everyone, enjoying life and being yourself has been made so simple, that even my pre-schooler is pointing out when her sisters aren't following these simple, yet major lessons!

"My Purple Toes" is available for sale at a very reasonable price of $10.99. A portion of sale of this adorable book will benefit children in the US as well as all across the world through a non profit organization called Soles 4 Souls. This amazing organization collects and distributes shoes at no cost to people in need!

You can purchase this amazing book and help out this wonderful organization HERE.

Back to School - Rohto Eye Drops Review and Giveaway

I had to add this Eye drop review to my Back to School series because when I read a lot, or am up late studying, my eyes dry out, big time! Especially when I'm wearing my contacts. Air controlled classrooms aggravate this problem as well.

ROHTO eye drops leave my eyes feeling refreshed. Dryness is instantly booted out of the picture when using this company's awesome products!

I had the opportunity to try Rohto's "Hydra" and "Cool" recently and I was quite pleased! Often times I am so exhausted that come bed time, I don't remove my contacts. I wake up the next morning with my eyes so dry that it feels like my contacts will pop out if I blink the wrong way! Rohto Hydra has definitely alleviated this for me! Hydra has left my eyes feeling normal, and has a very cooling sensation that I rather like!

Are you like me, and have MAJOR allergies? Do the affect your eyes? Well, Rohto has taken care of this as well!!! Rohto Cool, has helped me alleviate the redness temporarily from my allergy eyes as well as for a few of my children. Any reason to not have my hands in my face is wonderful! Especially when out and about with no where to wash before hand.

Rohto eye drop products are available nation wide at most drug stores, and grocery stores. They are also available through drugstore.com. Average retail is $6.99-$8.99 depending on the product.

Back to School!

I decided I want to go back to school. Go for LVN and possibly looking into going to RN! I want to specialize in Peds or OB. I have to wait for winter term to submit my apps to the program and then wont be able to start classes until Spring term. I LOVED working as a Pharmacy Technician and that experience should help me with this.

I figure that with as many BAD - BAD experiences that I have had dealing with nurses and doctors who won't listen to me or even to mother's intuition period, I want to change that for my family. I took #5 in for the beginning of an ear infection and the RN we saw told me that it was just teething and to give him a carrot to chew on. He's had a HUGE laundry list of ear infections. He's had one every other month, since he was 4 months old...not to mention the 4 girls have had some (#4 way more than the others). She told me because he has tubes there isn't anything we can do if he ever gets them anyways. They will just drain for months and heal themselves. Bull Crap! I refuse to put my son's hearing in jeopardy!

I'm tired of it and the way we as moms are treated. Time to better my family's quality of life, and others in the military community. I am wanting to also work only on base/post if possible.

Sorry if part of this turned into a rant. Military medical facilities frustrate me.

Another weekend gone...

...and another family outing on the record!

Hubby and I decided last weekend that our next weekend outing would be Bisbee and Tombstone! Saturday morning started out as any other. We TRIED to sleep in, as we had stayed up all too late watching a couple great movies! Breakfast was followed by getting dressed and making sure kids had some chores done. We then heard begging for hikes! So we told the to get shoes on on fill up their Camelbacks! Quick rearranging diapering items, snacks and making sure we had all things of immediate necessities. The kids had no clue what we had planned, and so the adventure was on!

First up, Bisbee!!

The sites were beautiful!!! We learned that among other things, this small mining community used to mine Copper!

There were stairs EVERYWHERE! No joke! This tiny town is known for their stairs as well as the copper!
Here's a few sets!

If you click on this next picture you can see all the flights for this set of stair! Crazy, No?!

Next was on to Tombstone! Our first stop was........Boothill Cemetery

Many were buried in  Boot Hill. Most famous for the burials of Billy Clanton, Frank McLaury and Tom McLaury; the three men killed during the well known Gunfight at the O.K. Corral.

Downtown Tombstone was a treat! We enjoyed dinner at the Longhorn Restaurant. Over 100 years old, this place was so amazing!

The kids enjoyed seeing everyone dressed up in appropriate fashions for the time period. From cowboys to lady's dressed for the 'night' it was all there! We even heard a gun fight! The kids favorite part? The stagecoachs!!

You can more pictures from this trip at my Photo Blog HERE.

Fabulous Friday - Back to School - Seventh Gen.

According to the CDC, nearly 22 million school days lost each year due to the common cold and flu. And, according to NSF International, as many as 2.7 million bacterial found per square inch on common school surfaces! It's no wonder when Seventh Generation surveyed parents of children attending Kindergarten through 5th grade, they found that 82% worry about germs in the classroom.

With so many germs out there, Seventh Generation is sharing tips from best-selling author and pediatrician, Dr. Alan Greene, to help parents protect their child’s health during back-to-school season.
Doctor Greene suggests the following precautions:

Optimize the immune system
  • Reap the benefits of probiotics like those found in yogurt. A recent study showed that children who received enough probiotics daily throughout the cold and flu season had a significant reduction in the number of illnesses they had and, when they did get sick, the symptoms were both milder and didn't last as long.
  • Be sure your child is getting plenty of vitamin D from the sun, from food, or from a supplement.
  • Build a strong foundation. Good food, good sleep, and good physical activity all help the immune system to flourish.
Be wise about reducing unnecessary exposure to harmful germs
  • Teach children the key times to clean their hands in the classroom. The most important times include after sneezing, coughing or using the restroom, upon leaving "high-risk" places (recess, naptime, play stations) and before meals or snacks.
  • Sixty percent of teachers surveyed said that they request that parents donate disinfecting wipes to the classroom. Seventh Generation’s disinfecting wipes kill 99.99% of germs* naturally using the active ingredient thyme, a component of thyme oil which is derived from the herb thyme.
  • Stress the importance of not touching their eyes, nose or mouth. Germs are often spread when a person touches something that is contaminated with germs and then touches his or her eyes, nose, or mouth.
  • Demonstrate to your children how to cover their mouth and nose for every cough and sneeze. This simple maneuver has spectacular results in decreasing the spread of viruses and bacteria floating about the room, waiting to be inhaled.
*Refer to disinfecting product labels for full details

Seventh Generation has teamed up with Blog Spark to get you and your kiddos ready to start the year out right! Let's combat those germs together, shall we? I am big on antibacterial wipes. especially in the kitchen! There is something about meat, raw meat that I can't stand. My hubby makes fun of me because I don't like to touch it! Any ground meat that needs to be mixed with other ingredients while raw is promptly put into my Kitchen Aid bowl! LOL!

No germs on my hands! But lets face it, it isn't as clean as it sounds. That's when antibacterial wipes come in handy! I simply wipe down my counters and no longer have to worry about little fingers reaching into the world of good ol' Salmonella or E. Coli!

Seventh Generation has a wonderful Antibacterial wipe! I LOVE the smell of the Lemongrass and Thyme oil they use in it! It's magnificent!  And cleaning the bathroom and kitchen, their Disinfecting Multi-Surface Cleaner leaves the rooms clean and my whole home smelling fresh!

You can purchase these and even more amazing products (that I swear by), directly from SEVENTH GEN, one of the many  ONLINE stores, or from various retail establishments near YOU!

WIN!!!  Thanks to the generosity of Seventh Generation, one of my lucky readers will win a Seventh Generation Back To School Kit!!! The winner will receive, a Seventh Generation backpack, two canisters of Seventh Generation disinfecting wipes (one for home and one to donate to your child’s classroom), disinfecting multi-surface spray cleaner, facial tissue and paper towels.

Hope you had a fantastic Sunday!

Kartchner Caverns State Park, AZ

Ok, alright, we didn't go into the caverns. First we went on a scavenger hunt inside of the Discovery Center. The kids all learned a lot about different formations that are routinely found in caves and caverns. They learned about bats and large sloths, and other animals! We made it half way through our hunt when the little guy decided he was done, so we set out on a 2.5 mole hike around the caverns. It was so much fun!!! The trail was rated easy, moderate and extreme. It really wasn't that bad! Even #4 who is 4 walked the entire way herself!

Here are some of the sites!

The funniest thing???

This is the look we got after 2 miles into our hike, she remarks "I have to go potty"! We showed her exactly where! LOL!

The prettiest view???

The view from the parking lot just before we got back to our car!
